Say What?!

Camden's language continues to explode. On the way home from the library the other night he pointed out the window and said, "basketball hoop." We're still amazed at what he picks up. Of course, not everything is pronounced correctly. For a while birdie came out as boobie. (ed. note by Kirk: Boobie is a perfectly acceptable name for a bird. I'm just assuming he was having classification issues.)


And he's added the BA at the front of banana. Someone must have been correcting him, because he puts the emphasis on the ba every time - BAnana. (ed note by Kirk: That was my doing this morning. I taught him to add the BA and we practiced as I carried both him and my banana to the car. I remembered to drop off Camden off at childcare but the banana just cooked in the car all day.)


He's picking up more phrasing and the other night at dinner said - "more pepperoni" (though it sounds more like mo peponinini). I've been avoiding teaching him the word fork because of the obvious mispronunciation that will occur since he can't make an r sound.


Camden's also been expanding in other areas. He's become an artist and loves using markers - yes they're washable. You might be able to see that his bath water is colored. That's because he decided drawing on himself was way more fun than drawing on paper. His current favorite books are No No Little Elf, The Lorax, and Chowder. (ed note by Kirk: Chelsey is too modest to point out that she is the author of his favorite book, No No Little Elf.)

He picked up the phrase "Oh No!" while playing blocks with me the other day and spent a good half an hour that night flopping back and forth between Kirk's lap and my lap crying "Oh No!" dramatically.

We just got back from our short vacation in the Black Hills - more to come on that.
