We're Going to the Zoo Zoo Zoo...

A little over a week ago our dear friends Katie and Matt were in town for a wedding and they stayed at our house. We got up on Sunday and after consuming a hearty pancake and bacon breakfast we headed down to Como Zoo.

It was Camden's first time there. We didn't have a lot of time before Katie and Matt had to leave for the airport so it was a whirlwind tour of the zoo. Here's Camden looking at the seals. He was interested in things but too young to get real excited. He liked to watch the fast moving monkies most of all since he enjoys watching little balls of fur run around.

As you can see here in the picture below, he's interested but not excited. I expect some day he will be as amused as we were when the gorilla loaded some freshly steaming, ahem, ammunition, into his hand and threw it at the stupid humans gawking at him from above. Classic and stinky.

Here's Katie explaining the wonder of Mallards.

The blog is supposed to be about Camden but how could I resist a photo of a Zebra?

In other Camden news he had a big day Monday at Grandma and Grampa Mona's. Their living room is sunken down three steps and Camden decided to tackle the monumental task of stairs. Hey, he's 8 months old, why not? According to Grandpa, the first step took a lot of effort and problem solving but he solved the second step in a third of the time. Way to go Camden! Of course, we have discovered the insanity that ensues when a child learns he can crawl. The other day he was heading for an open door in his room so I closed it and he got very upset. He had already worked hard to move 8 feet or so toward the door and when he saw the door close blocking his way and making all of his hard work for not he broke down in tears. Also at the Mona's they say he mimicked a few bars of a song. We've never heard him do it but maybe soon?
