Catching up

We're way overdue for an update so here's a quick one. We figured since it was almost xmas we should probably post t-giving photos.
Here's Cam this year.

Here's last year.

He's got a whole slew of teeth coming in - we've been able to count at least five more since our last post - he's not too cooperative with opening his mouth for us to see. We also started using the vest a couple of weeks ago - so we no longer have to beat on our child! The vest looks like this:
The vest is hooked to a compressor - the thing on the left which causes the vest to shake - which breaks up the mucus in his lungs. We've discovered an awesome side effect - a better night's sleep. Before, we used to give Cam's treatments right before bed and he'd almost always fall asleep. While this seems great at the time - turns out it's not so great when he wakes up in the middle of the night and can't go back to sleep without the drone of the nebulizer. The vest needs to be done at least a half an hour before bed - so we do his treatments before his last meal and then have a new routine for bed. We read 3 books (which by the way - he LOVES doing now - so my child!) and then he gets put in his crib to fall asleep on his own. Right now we sit in the room with him until he falls asleep - but the next step is to leave the room. He bounces up and down a number of times - tosses and turns until he burns off his remaining energy - but it only seems to take about 1/2 hour for him to fall asleep. And the super awesome part ... if he wakes up in the middle of the night he falls back asleep on is own! Sometimes we need to tell him to lie down and go back to sleep - but we don't have to get up with him! So friggin' awesome!

He's also doing more signs and seems to understand even more words. Aside from the sign for milk he does more, all done (when we say it) and some other sign when eating that he made up and we haven't quite figured out what it means yet - his finger to his palm - maybe a request for food in general? He will lie down in his crib when asked, puts food in his mouth when asked. He's started giving stuffed animals kisses. He's starting to run more - oftentimes slightly out of control. He'll pick out books to read when you ask him to.

He can pick out toys or pictures for certain words - farm, farmer, tractor, barn, pig, fish, bear, lizard. We're always surprised and how much he understands.

[Edit: He also understands the word "blocks" thanks to uncle Erik's birthday gift. -Kirk]
