August (and apparently July) Update

We just got back from dinner at Grumpy's House (Cam's name for Grumpy's Restaurant) and I have a bit to blog while Kirk's putting him to bed. The fair is finally over and it seems that the summer went by in a blink. Since August is prologue to the fair, we didn't get much posting in. So here's a quick recap.

Mid-July we went to a family reunion in the Black Hills with Chelsey's Dad's side of the family. It was a lot of driving and Cam did great. He loved the van we rented and wanted to play inside it the whole trip.

On the way out we stopped at Grandma Marlyce's house where he learned to blow bubbles (kinda) and played in the water with cousin Parker.

We were in the hills for a short time, most of which was spent with family. We did get a chance to go over to the petting farm that was next to our campground. Cam was enamored with the chickens. He chased them all around the yard.

We played outside a lot this summer, but one rainy day Camden got into the box that Kirk's moped parts came in.

This summer Camden also discovered bubble wrap.

The week Cam's childcare was closed we went to the Children's Museum. He had fun playing in the bus and exploring all of the nature rooms. He crawled in the giant ant farm tunnels (which means Mama got to crawl around on her knees, too).

Otherwise, most of August was filled with catching up on our reading...

....listening to music...

....and hanging at the beach.

Camden had his first bath in the big tub without the duckie and his first true skinned knee.

You can see he was much happier post band-aid.

Cam survived his second fair. We missed the first weekend for Grandma Marlyce's 80th, but he enjoyed the extra time playing outside. He set up his lawnchair beneath the hanging flower pot.

He was content just to be outside and hung out there until grandma and grandpa brought back the bubble gun. Oh the bubble gun. Who knew a kid could be so obsessed. He played with it non-stop through two containers of bubble solution. Then when it ran out refused to do anything else. No going in the house, no eating, and certainly no sleeping. The only thing on his mind was the bubble gun. When we finally got him to sleep we hid it. He asked for it a couple of times the next day, but seems to have forgotten it. I'm hoping it will be useful as a future negotiation tool.
