Arizona

We told the bulk of my (kirk's) family while in Arizona last week. We did it the first night at Capital Grille where we celebrated Linda and Erik's birthday jointly. I usually avoid eating cow but who can pass up a great steak? I had a dry aged New York sirloin that was fantastic.

We pretty much told them at the beginning of the meal and everyone was excited.

While in Arizona we had lots of fun but Chelsey had to miss out on some stuff b/c of the pregnancy. She didn't get to go on the ATV ride and she also had to miss out on a short horseback ride which was hard because she loves horseback riding. She did still get to shoot the single action .22 pistol and throw axes at the wild west town. She still got to go on the hot air balloon ride and she still went on a jeep ride in Sedona. The jeep ride was awfully rough for a pregnant woman. My family went on the same jeep ride a few days before and my dad swore it wasn't very rough. What world are you living on dad?

Oh, Chelsey also missed out on the wine tasting though I can tell her that the wine was interesting at best. We tasted four wines and none of them is something I ever particularly need to taste again. On a good note, Chelsey ate all of the food that came with my wine. Each seemed to be either soft cheese with something stuck into it or something with soft cheese stuck inside. What variety! Now, someone who is prego isn't supposed to have soft cheese but we had someone ask the chef and it turns out all the cheese was pasturized so she was in the clear. A cool bonus of the wine tasting was that we each got complementary Riedel wine glasses. They are cabernet style which is our favorite. Chelsey has to wait a long time before she gets to drink but I can tell you her first drink will be out of a crystal goblet. I'm a little skeptical of the claims this company makes about the glasses. Wine does taste different out of them but when we did a taste test we started with a really tiny glass so you couldn't swirl the wine at all. We tasted it then poured it into the Riedel glass (which adds oxygen) and then people swirled the wine before drinking it. Well of course it is going to taste different if you add a bunch of oxygen. Also a larger glass allows your nose to get in there with the wine which will change the taste. To be a fair test they would have needed to pour two glasses of wine, not one, and the non-riedel glass would have to be about the same size. Anyhow, I'm sure the glowing recommendation had nothing to do with the fact that the hotel sold the Riedel glasses at $12 a pop.

Baby wise I think it is smaller than a pea right now. Chelsey hasn't had morning sickness per se but sometimes feels a little off or many foods just don't sound good. She complains some but we try to remember that it could be sooooooooo much worse.
